Arvey McFarland is a member of The American Federation of Musicians Local 104. He is a former student of Silver Medal Champion Kenneth Sutherland, and has numerous wins at piping competitions in California and Utah, including a First Place at the 122nd Annual San Francisco Caledonian Club Scottish Gathering & Games in Santa Rosa, California. He performs as a soloist with the Great Highland Bagpipe and Scottish Small Pipe for stage, formal, casual, and charitable engagements. Over the course of his long piping career Arvey has played at church services, university commencements, pop & folk music concerts, stage musicals, ballets, recitals, wedding ceremonies and receptions, active military and veterans functions, memorials and funerals. His performance credits include the 1986 Diablo Light Opera and 1988 Woodminster Theatre productions of " Brigadoon", as well as Ballet West's 1999 and 2002 productions of "La Sylphide" at the Capital Theatre in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2004 he played for the wedding ceremony of the internationally famous English tenor, Alfie Boe to his bride Sarah.
